hi chris,

this isnt a CNC, its a duplicating router, they are useful for some things, especially rough carving of archtop plates, mandolins etc...... in fact PRS used a duplicarver up until about 1990 i think for all production,

if you are interested in a real CNC then go to WWW.CNCZONE.COM they have info and plans for building your own CNC router,

PaddyD,

Thanks for the correction and CNC link. No, I'm not really interested in real CNC, I've already spent too much of my life struggling with computers. I just think this rig looks usefull, and wonder if it's worth $26 for the plans. The seller's been on eBay since '99, and has a perfect feedback score, so I might 'take a shot'. I have several Martin factory pre-carved necks to use as master/models to 'duplicate'. If the thing works as advertised, it will certainly save alot of labor, and it looks like an interesting project to build.

Chris, check out his web site here. I bought the plans some time ago and have never gotten around to the project.

Don,

Thanks!! Good looking site. By Gosh, I think I'm going to build one. Spring is 'right around the corner', at least it is here in Calif., today is 70 deg., and this looks like a great project to start the year off. Looking through my stash of pre-carved necks, I think I've got pre-carved Martin 12 & 14 fret, peg & slot head, Martin 12 string, Garrison 14 fret peg head, 2 banjo, Johnson reso biscuit & tricone. If it works well, I might just start selling the things, and put my aimless 21 year old son to work making them.
